About Us

The Ayers family has lived in Sullivan County since the early 1800s. The late William J. (Bill) Ayers was raised by a widowed mother and two older sisters. His father passed away when he was only 15 months old. He married Norma, and after a brief time in Kansas City, came back to Green City and purchased the land the farm now sits on. Bill and Norma raised three children after they moved back to the area: Doug, Kristy, and Rick. Since then, the farm has gradually expanded to the current operation’s size. Ayers Farms is now owned in a partnership by Rick Ayers and his mother Norma. His wife Jonna and two children, Natalie and Zachary, also play a vital role in daily operations.

Ayers Farms is a forage based, beef cattle operation focused on performance oriented Angus cattle. A detailed herd health program is implemented in cooperation with our supervising veterinarian, Dr. Larry Letner, and his wife Kristy (Rick’s sister). In 2014 the farm was recognized by the Missouri Department of Agriculture and was awarded the first Agriculture Stewardship Assurance Program (ASAP).
